Hymer Connect app: everything under control

The client is one of the largest manufacturers of motorhomes and caravans in Europe. In addition to the original trademark, the client also operates under various brand names.

The client wanted to digitize its business as motorhomes are equipped with different electronic devices such as fridges, TVs, etc. The project's goal was to provide convenient control over the lighting, heater, air conditioning, and satellite systems via the mobile application.

The concept was built on three core pillars: interface and network support, vehicle assistance systems, and mobile services. The outcome is a cohesive and logically structured solution that enables comprehensive control over lighting (including color and intensity), photovoltaics, batteries, heating, refrigerator (with door-close alerts), alarm system, and even a satellite dish.

A key result of Hymer’s long-standing collaboration with Mercedes is the seamless integration of comprehensive vehicle data — including mileage, battery charge level, error notifications, fuel tank status, and overall vehicle condition. You can connect to the system via Bluetooth when near the vehicle or remotely through a telemetry SIM card.

The functionalities mentioned above not only enable control of individual devices based on specific needs, but more importantly, allow for programming sequences of actions—similar to the "scenes" used in smart home systems like the KNX standard.

The application is available for download on the app stores. The release of SCU-equipped motorhomes took place on April 1, 2021.
